Training Introduction
Welcome to Property Justice Project Community Training
Property Justice Project (PJP), associated with the Homeless Rights Advocacy Project (HRAP) at Seattle University School of Law, supports unhoused neighbors who have lost property during encampment sweeps conducted by the City of Seattle or its agents.
This community training introduces PJP’s work and prepares community partners to support unhoused neighbors affected by sweeps. The training covers:
- The impacts of encampment sweeps.
- The rights of unhoused people.
- How community partners can provide effective support.
Note: PJP applies only to sweeps conducted in Seattle.
Course participation and completion may be reviewed as part of the broader PJP training program. Completion records will be maintained to document participation.
Meet the Lead Instructor
Sara K. Rankin, J.D., M.Ed.
Sara Rankin is a law professor at Seattle University School of Law. Professor Rankin is the founder and Director of the Homeless Rights Advocacy Project where she works with law students to advance the civil, constitutional, and human rights of unhoused people.
