Conclusion and Supplemental Materials

As discussed in this online module series, the Property Justice Project (PJP) helps people in Seattle recover property that was lost, seized, or destroyed during City sweeps. Our help is free, and our focus is solely on sweep-related property loss within the City of Seattle. Our work includes:

• Providing Know Your Rights education
• Encouraging documentation of valued property before a sweep occurs
• Helping people retrieve belongings if they are collected or impounded by the City
• Supporting people who wish to pursue other remedies when property has been lost or destroyed
• Warm, facilitated referrals for needs outside our primary scope

Anyone who lost personal property in a Seattle encampment sweep can also request a free consultation by calling 206-398-4727 (206-398-HRAP) and leaving a message, or by emailing HRAP@seattleu.edu.

The attached materials below can help you learn more about our organization and how we can help:

• PJP Overview Handout (broad informational guide on what services PJP offers)
• PJP Contact Cards (business style cards with PJP’s contact information)
• Know Your Rights Handout (an informational guide on the rights of people experiencing homelessness during Seattle encampment sweeps)

Feel free to share them however works best for you, whether that’s posting printed copies, passing them to staff or volunteers, or including them in a newsletter or email list.
