Introducing Religious Literacy

Welcome from Dr. Michael Reid Trice, Executive Director and Spehar-Halligan Endowed Professor Seattle University

Etching Your Sparrow for Others

Members of local indigenous communities in the Rio Grande Valley would leave the safety of the watershed and walk out across a high-plateau desert to the bluffs, where for over 3,000 years human beings etched images upon the surface of the rock in that place. These artists etched images – like that of a sparrow – as a part of their journey and left those etchings in the rock for the future of other people who walked the path to the bluffs year upon year.
